Introduction in Database Investigation |
The Duderstadt Municipal Archive handles its records in a database, which contains both formal details and information about the contents of the records.
The range of the contents that is available in the database varies from section to section. There are indexed registers of summaries of each diploma and catalogues of places and persons mentioned in them. In the section »Files (Akten)«, for the records Dud 1 (Rep 11), Dud 2 (Rep 13) and Ortsteile (Rep 51), a register of the periods of validity, titles, headwords, places and persons is available.
The section of the »Official Books« has a special position. Up to the year 1650 the records are completely digitalised. They are shortly going to have a subject catalogue. The treasury registers (Annalen) are indicated on every column of each page. It is thus possible to make queries that refer to one or more different columns. Analysis during any period, for instance about the diplomatic activities of the town council or the economic development of special branches of the town's companies, can be made by looking at selected pages of the treasury registers.

Search in the columns of the treasury registers (This service is only available in German, because most of the columns contain terms, which are untranslatable. So it is better not to give a translation than an inadequate translation only on principle.). |
